The Good, The Bad and The Corporate

I have often heard that, people don’t come in Black and White; they are always in the shades of grey. Confused? Let me explain. Like the old good Hindi movies, there is no absolute goodwill hero or absolute evil villain. Everyone belong in between, the scale which connects the absolute good and pure evil. But that’s something you already know, don’t you? Of course you do, because at times we behave good and bit evil as well. And this evil doesn’t mean being a bad person, it just means “Not waiting for the signal to turn green”, or “Throwing the garbage on the road” (Cause there was no dustbin around, so lame reason, Lol). My point being, everybody is bad sometime and vice a versa.

So that covers the good and the bad, but what’s the corporate ha? Now these are the strangest but the smartest people on the earth (at least they think so,Lol). So being in corporate life for almost two years, I observed many people. People of my age, little bit seniors and highly seniors as well. And I can tell there is a trend in their behavior. Many of them would deny this fact, cause they would say that they are different, but eventually they are the same.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, in life, we always know if we are doing something right and wrong. And the only thing we care, while doing wrong, is that we don’t get caught. Right? But in corporate it’s a complete different level. The people doing wrong don’t hesitate doing it, rather they are proud of it, and over the top they have a plan to justify it. Confused? Let me tell a short story.

Once upon a time there was a school, whose Principal was a good man. And then he got retired. Now, his successor wasn’t that great of a leader but because of seniority, he got the post. As he was incapable of handling school, over a time, he started losing grip of the things happening around, as a result the teachers got lazy, politics started, and the main principle of the school, i.e., Education, got left behind. Slowly performance of the students started to decline, as a result, the school started to get bad mouth publicity. And eventually, the number of students enrolling started to decline. After a while the school got shut down, as there were no new students. So whose fault it was?

Now as the story I explained, you can tell that it was the New Principal, who was at fault. But if all the participants of the story were corporate, you might find a new answer. Cause The Principal would blame that the teachers were not as good as it were at the time of his predecessor. The teachers would blame the students, and the students would have no idea what the hell was happening. Getting little bit idea?

So basically the reason behind this post was, if you ever find yourself tangled in the chain of corporate, don’t waste your time. Get yourself out, and find a place where The Good is appreciated, The Bad is eliminated the moment it arises and The Corporate is kicked out the instant it appears.

The Book Thief

There are stories. There are good stories. And then there are stories which touch your soul. One such story is written by Markus Zusak, named as The Book thief. Narrated by the death itself, it's a story of a kid from Nazi Germany. Her name is Liesel. Living in a foster home, with her new Papa and Mama. But life is not fair with her. She has memories of a brother, she lost on a train. Her new mother is awful cook and pretty tough on her. She has nightmares every night. As she starts to live this new life on a place called Himmel Street, stuff keeps happening. She makes a best friend Rudy, who's has crush on her. Her father teaches her the art of reading from a book she has stolen from grave yard. And hence the title, the book thief. And then there's another important character, called Max. Who is a Jew in a Nazi Germany, who is given shelter in her basement. You go on a journey from a train, to a football match on street, to stealing apples and bread. From playing accordion...

They say memories are like curse. They make you feel the pain, again and again. And that's partially true. A sweet moment happened in past, makes you smile, but the realization that it won't happen again makes you sad as well. Its like that cup of tea which is half filled. So I have this memory. Not memory exactly, rather a feeling. A feeling, which makes me happy. This feeling appears on my doorstep, when it is about to rain. So when the sky is darkly clouded, the heat is cooling down, and no one is missing the sun. I miss that 'Beep' sound on my phone. Cause it used to beep continuously at such times. I miss that crazy screaming on call, when first few drops from sky took a dive. How can I forget the never ending wish to eat ice cream during rain.   The timeless calls at window, the nigh chats, and the promises. The Promise to be forever, the promise to have faith, the promise to never betray, the promise no never go away. Those rains were witnesses. That at...
